January 14, 2019

A new year begins and we will be meeting in a new venue.   Meeting is on January 19, 2019 beginning at 9:30 AM . Come early as the walk is a little longer than at the old place. We are excited about our new meeting place at MS Agriculture and Forestry Museum in the Masonic Hall, 1150 Lakeland Drive, Jackson 39216. We have purchased two 50 inch TVs and have more changes to make our meetings flow better.

Mike Hunter, owner of Hunter Tool Systems,  will provide the demonstration.   Mike will be doing a calabash bowl and showing the various tools he manufactures. He will have tools for sale and will give a club discount .
Dues for this year will be reduced to $35 and this will be your last opportunity to get a free club patch with dues payment. Additional patches are $3 each. You will want to get several to show off your club.  There will be no bowl for money so be sure your payment AND YOUR ATTENDANCE are logged in and money goes to a club officer.  New members will be required to fill out an application.
Our meetings are open to the public and we will have people passing  thru regularly . Please make these passers by welcome as you would other turners.
This year for Show N Tell we will have one moderator.  There will be display cards to be filled out for each piece you bring in . These will help to identify the work and allow the program to flow better.
The building has a kitchen and coffee and snacks will be available as usual.
The Museum allows us to sell our products. If you desire to sell items you will need change and possibly access to a charge system such as Square. The club will not be responsible for this process.  Use a business card or club display cards to identify you and the price of your item.
Phil will be asking members to serve as greeters to guide visitors. This is something going on during the meeting to decrease disruption of those passing thru.
Club Challenge issued in November is a goblet. If you did not make a new one bring an old one.
Remember to return any Library items you have checked out. Our Library is on the honor system and you as members are expected to return checked out items at the meeting following check out.
Plans are in place for the Jimmie Clewes Demo and hands on on February 16 and 17. Non refundable deposit of $100 required for hands on and will be open to all comers as of now. A more complete announcement will be forthcoming .
